Client Overview
Gryphon IT Solutions deals with consumer electronics such as televisions, DVD Players, MP3 Players, Printers and Home Entertainment Systems, and provides consultancy services to enable users meet their complex network requirements.
Project Objective
The client required a web solution to enable a user to purchase electronic and computer related products, from multiple brands using an easy to use payment gateway. The web solution required that an administrator could add a new shop and add multiple categories of products to the shops. All the major brands were also available and administrator could add a new brand using admin section, to update brands’ list on website.
The website offers after sales service, and tips and assistance to help make a choice for a product, thus providing a comfortable end user shopping experience.

Challenges
The challenge in project was to provide a solution that offered rich shopping experience by selling multiple products of different brands. Technically, the team was challenged to import data into database from feed. It required complex SQL queries and data handling system.
Another challenge was to use Google Checkout payment gateway that required level II integration. The solution also required different levels of uplifts for all product prices based on brands, shops and groups. Another requirement was that the administrator could set different site parameters to be able to customize the overall site, as required.

In brief, the web application has following key features.
- A list of shops displays different kinds of products of multiple brands, such as for Auto, Audiovisual, Consumer Electronics, Printers, Display, and so on
- All products for different shops and brands displayed with image, pricing, and brief details
- Ability to search a product, brand or shop, and user can sort search results based on brand, price and so on
- Shopping cart system facilitates payment using multiple credit cards
- Admin can set the values of multiple uplifts for different prices at different levels, for different products based on shops, brands and groups
- Admin as well as end user can see the live current stock as well as prices of products, anytime
- Admin section of website enables on to manage shops, brands in an easy-to-use and flexible interface
Technology
The application is developed using LAMP – Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP. The team used PHP5.x and MySQL 5, for development. For payment gateway, we used Google API’s for level II integration.
